Jingle Bells: Whats Going On Our Way...

The clocks have gone back, which means the countdown to Christmas really has begun. To get you in the festive mood we have compiled a list of the must-visit Christmas events going on in and around Leigh-on-sea this year.
1. Leigh Lights
Friday 29th November starting from 5 pm the annual Leigh Lights will be taking place, the broadway will be lit up as visitors begin to arrive. This year expect music from the wonderful local choir and music groups throughout the town.
The Yuletide Parade, featuring joyful fundraisers will start from Kings Road at 6.30 p.m., travelling along Leigh Road, Broadway and finishing in Broadway West around 7.30 p.m.
Look out for our parade programme which will feature a map, parade entries, timetables and special offers from traders to add to the night's enjoyment.
On the night of Leigh Lights come and join us for our own little festivities celebrations with drinks, music and lots of cheer! The shop will be open and available to browse until 8 pm on the 29th of November. The perfect time to shop for stunning gifts for your loved ones, we have a wide range of products from perfumes, jewellery to the most gorgeous collection of boots and shoes all made from the finest leathers and suede.
3. Pre-event Leigh Lights
For pre-event fun for your little ones, stop by Leigh Community Centre from 4.00 p.m. - 6.00 p.m. where you can enjoy a puppet show and visit Elsa's grotto! Thanks to Leigh Round Table you can have your picture taken on Santa’s sleigh and they will also be selling reasonably priced glow-sticks. This is the perfect opportunity for younger children to enjoy the event, whilst avoiding the crowds and cold weather outside!
4. Christmas Fayre
Another Christmas Fayre is taking place at Leigh Community Centre this year, on the 1st of December from 11 am - 4 pm. The event will run across 5 rooms within the Community Centre and will host 55 stalls! Room 1 will be themed as an Elsa’s Grotto with Princess Gatherings support. Face painting & glitter tattoos will be available. Stalls include candles, handmade soaps, cakes, sweets, Scandinavian folk art, wreaths, craft beer, bespoke wines & prosecco, artwork, homeware and of course a variety of Christmas decorations and accessories!
Come and support small local businesses from Leigh-on-Sea, musical entertainment will be playing throughout the day in the cafe.
Continuing into the Council’s Yuletide Season the annual carols on Strand Wharf event, run by Leigh-on-Sea Town Council will be taking place in the Old Town, Leigh-on-Sea on Saturday 8th December from 5 pm. Come and sing along to some of your favourite Christmas carols with the Salvation Army, and even enjoy a complimentary mince pie! Hot drinks will also be available.
This event is free, however, any donations made will go to the Chairman's Charity - which this year is supporting Southend YMCA.
One of the longest-running markets in the Essex area is hosting a Christmas Farmer's Market on the 21st December running from 9 am till 1 pm, located at Leigh Community Centre, 71-73 Elm Road, Leigh-on-Sea, SS9 1SP and is free to attend. Providing a range of stalls selling all different types of homegrown produce, The stallholders must have grown or made the goods themselves, and all traders come from within a 30 mile radius.
There will be extra stalls selling festive fayre and themed treats. Come and along and get some tasty treats for your Christmas Dinner!
Adventure Wonderland is back again this year, with a grotto parked at Adventure Island theme park in Southend! Enjoy everything on offer, like rides indoor and out, soft play, hot drinks and gingerbread men, video gameplays and crafting your own letter to Father Christmas before heading to Christmasville to see Santa himself! A great festive day out for the little ones running from the 7th till the 24th of December!
Was it even Christmas if you didn't go to a panto? Following their record-breaking Cliffs debut in last years version of Aladdin, Ashley Banjo and Diversity are back again to starr in Robin Hood and The Merry Men running from the 13th of December till the 4th of January, starring alongside Diversity will be actor and musician Kev Orkian.
Enjoy the gravity-defying, dizzying dance routines of Britain's foremost street dance troupe as they lead the Sheriff of Nottingham a merry dance through Sherwood Forest, robbing from the rich to give to the poor.
